Immingham
parishAlso known as: Imungeham, Mingeham, Immingeham
Historically a small rural parish and agricultural village on the Humber Estuary, Immingham is notable as a 1608 departure point for the Pilgrim Fathers escaping to Holland. For centuries it remained a sparsely populated settlement with an economy centered on grazing and fishing until its transformation in the early 20th century. Between 1906 and 1912, the Great Central Railway developed the site into a major industrial port town with the opening of the deep-water Immingham Dock.
